31 December 2008 Entry: ""
Old New Year
I type this with one and a half hands and a kitten on my shoulder.
I fell down and broke my right index finger after the last Poetry Reading at Live Theatre - Ciaran Carson and Bill Herbert on 7th December - I suppose pride always comes before a fall - I thought I was too happy and full of myself after graduating.
I suppose deep down I believe in Greek Tragedy as a model for life.
He who learns must suffer - Aeschylus
I used to quite enjoy Christmas - now I feel it’s as miserable as New Year.
We just have to get through it.
However, the list of old friends and new that have found me on Facebook is indicative of the world to come. I embrace it with open arms, and long to get back to the routine of writing - a great solace in turbulent times.
I wish everyone peace and happiness in 2009
